　　I'd like to talk about the time I accidentally broke my smartphone about eight months ago. It was my iPhone that I'd only had for about six months, so it was still relatively new and I was being extra careful with it.

　　This happened on a Tuesday evening when I was at a coffee shop near my university, studying for an important exam the next day. I had been there for about three hours and was getting ready to leave. As I was packing up my books and notes, I placed my phone on top of my textbooks, thinking it would be safe there while I organized everything else.

　　What happened was pretty stupid, honestly. When I picked up my heavy backpack, I didn't realize my phone was still sitting on top of the books underneath it. As I lifted the bag, my phone slid off and fell directly onto the concrete floor of the café. It landed screen-first with this awful cracking sound that every phone owner dreads.

　　When I picked it up, I saw spider web cracks all across the screen, and the corner was completely shattered. I felt my heart sink because I knew repair costs would be expensive, and I was already tight on money as a student.

　　After it happened, I first tried to see if it still worked - fortunately, the touch screen was still responsive despite the cracks. I immediately called my dad to tell him what happened, expecting him to be upset, but he was actually quite understanding. The next day, I took it to a phone repair shop and ended up paying about 800 yuan to get the screen replaced. I also bought a really sturdy phone case right away to prevent this from happening again.
