　　I'd like to share the traditional story of Chang'e flying to the moon, which I first heard when I was about seven years old. My grandmother told me this tale during Mid-Autumn Festival while we were sitting outside admiring the full moon and eating mooncakes.

　　The story tells of Chang'e, a beautiful woman married to the heroic archer Hou Yi. After Hou Yi shot down nine suns to save the earth, he was rewarded with an elixir of immortality. However, Chang'e secretly consumed the potion and began floating toward the moon, where she remains forever, accompanied only by a jade rabbit.

　　My grandmother had this wonderful way of storytelling - she'd use different voices for each character and gesture dramatically while describing Chang'e's ascent to the moon. She told me that's why we can sometimes see a beautiful lady's silhouette when we look closely at the full moon during Mid-Autumn Festival.

　　When I first heard this story, I felt a mixture of wonder and sadness. The idea of someone living alone on the moon seemed both magical and incredibly lonely. I remember staring at the moon that night, trying to spot Chang'e's figure, feeling amazed that such a romantic yet melancholic tale could explain something as simple as the moon's appearance. It sparked my lifelong fascination with Chinese mythology and made Mid-Autumn Festival feel much more meaningful and mysterious.
