　　This week, we'll be discussing the future of education. Let's focus now on the following viewpoint: it is no longer useful to spend many years pursuing a traditional, specialized university degree in a single field, such as communications or economics. Instead, it makes more sense for most people to complete several shorter certification programs and earn certificates in, for example, project management, computer programming, graphic design, and so on. Do you agree or disagree with this viewpoint? Why?

　　I strongly support this approach because it aligns with the changing preferences of many individuals in the modern world who often wish to switch majors or career paths. Embracing certification programs allows people to explore and pursue the fields they are passionate about without the commitment of lengthy degree programs.

　　Paul:

　　University education is a superior choice due to its comprehensive and specialized nature. While certification programs offer quick training, universities provide a more in-depth understanding of a subject. They encourage critical thinking, research skills, and a broader knowledge base. University degrees often lead to higher earning potential and career opportunities.

　　Although a traditional university degree can help develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and other skills, from my perspective, completing shorter certification programs brings more benefits. Obviously, the primary reason is that in a rapidly changing world, the skills needed in the workforce are constantly evolving, meaning that it is more beneficial to have a broad range of skills that can be adapted to different situations rather than a deep but narrow expertise in one field. For example, my friends Alex has benefitted from completing several certification programs; to be more specific, to adapt to the changes in the journalism industry, he decided to earn certifications in a variety of areas such as digital marketing, video edition, and social media management. By doing this, he was able to broaden his skill set and adapt to the evolving needs of the industry, making him a more versatile and competitive candidate in the modern journalism field. By contrast, if people choose to pursue a traditional university degree, the range of skills they can acquire may be limited since university curriculums in a specific field tend to be structured and focused. Therefore, I hold the notion that shorter certification programs are superior to traditional university education as they usually make people master a wide range of skills which are very useful for their career development.
