Your university is organizing a series of guest lectures. Some people think that speakers with controversial opinions should not be invited to speak at the university. Others believe that the university should feature a variety of speakers, regardless of their opinions. Which point of view do you agree with? Explain why, using details and examples in your response.
Well, I personally think that the university could invite guest speakers with controversial ideas. The first reason is that all ideas and opinions should be accepted. College students are mature enough to get viewpoints and opinions from all aspects. For example, if the guest speaker has some thoughts towards political issues or economical aspects, then the critical thinking skill of students could be developed at the same time. The second reason is that banning speakers with controversial ideas cannot stop student from knowing those opinions. What I mean is, having a chance to talk to those speakers face to face may help college students to speak up. In that case, they may figure out the right answers or change their own opinions in a more direct way.
Reading(Professor Letter): Restrict
Access to University Garden
Point 1:

Restrict Access to University Garden
Professors in the botany department
conduct research on the plants and flowers that grow in the university
botanical garden. However, it has become difficult for us to do this research, because students who visit the garden often pick the flowers and step on the plants. I think the university should close the garden to students and other visitors and only allow researchers in the area. This would ensure the protection of the plants and flowers so they can be used for research purposes. Also, there are a few parks located near town, not far from the university, so students would still have ample opportunities to enjoy the outdoors.
Sincerely, Professor Mary Green

Conversation: Man disagrees
比如应该让学生知道哪些 plants and flowers need to be protected, 因为很多学生可能都不知道这个 University Garden 里边在做 research。
Reason 2: 去周边的 parks 没这么容易,too far away to walk to.

Distinction Bias(差异偏差)
(When the options are presented simultaneously, so they can be viewed side by side, people tend to exaggerate the distinction or differences between them.)

Lecture: Psychology(心理学)
例子:Professor himself
Topic: 2 adaptations that animals have developed that can allow them to hang
up side down comfortably without using too much energy.
Adaptation 1: 帮助动物在倒挂的时候省力 (hold on while hanging without too
much effort or having to use too much energy)。
例子1:bat( 蝙蝠 )
(stay wrapped around the branch)
例子 :sloth( 树懒 )
