　　根据去年一整年全球的 SAT 考试来看，SAT 语法标点符号部分的重点和难点在于逗号和没有必要的标点。其中考的较多的是逗号部分的插入语，也就是逗号的前后对应，这类题首先要能够把握句子结构，其次要注意把句子读完整。

　　逗号的主要作用是分割，通过聚集或者分割单词、词组和从句，帮我们准确地理解句子意思。英文中逗号的用法主要有以下几种：

　　1)Use comma to separate items in a list.

　　用于连接一个句子的并列成分。

　　Eg：We had a long,hard,but interesting journey.

　　2)Use comma to separate introductory phases from the sentences they introduce.

　　用于分割整句前的词组。

　　Eg: Travelling in Beijing，I have to take my bag pack.

　　3)Use comma after connecting words and phases to show a clear relationship between two clauses or sentences.

　　用于分割主句和从句。

　　Eg: Even though it appears a great idea, I still have to think it over.

　　4)Use comma to separate and distinguish additional or incidental information inserted into a sentence.

　　使用逗号分割插入语和主句成分。

　　Eg：The Great Wall, one of the greatest places of interest in China, attracts millions of tourists every year.

　　不使用逗号的情况：

　　1.句子的主语和谓语后没有插入语和同位语等句子成分。

　　EG:Once we've found artwork suitable for the cover,editorial production,begins.

　　A.NO CHANGE

　　B.editorial production,begins

　　C.we begin,editorial production,

　　D.editorial production begins.

　　主语和谓语后没有插入语和同位语等句子成分，本题选D。

　　2.并列连词(and,but,for,or,yet)和从属连词(Although,because,when,since,and so on,so)后通常不能直接加逗号。

　　Secluded little islands in the Pacific are restful and ,alluringAlthough,most families eat around their television sets,mine does not.

　　3.限制性定语从句与先行词关系密切，通常不用逗号隔开。

　　The man,who robbed him has been arrested.

　　4.引出同类人或物的介词后不能直接加逗号。

　　Secretaries today need skills in,typing on a computer,using a calculator,and organizing the work flow.

　　5.前置定语和介词短语不能用逗号隔开。

　　There were growing,doubts about the victory statement.
