Narrator: Listen to a conversation between a student and the cafeteria manager.

Male manager: Oh, hi, uh, you're Amy, right?

男经理：哦，你好，你是艾米，对吧？

Female student: Yes.

女学生：是的。

Male manager: I haven't seen you here for a while. Welcome back.

男经理：好久没看见你了。欢迎回来。

Female student: Thanks, er, you're right, I haven't been eating here regularly like I used to.

女学生：谢谢。嗯，你说得对。我没有像以前那样经常在这吃饭了。

Male manager: Why not?

男经理：为什么不常来了呢？

Female student: Couple of reasons. First of all, I have a class that ends during lunchtime. So, by the time I get here, there's hardly any food left.

Male manager: Really?

男经理：真的吗？

Female student: Yeah. And then, I have chemistry lab at night this semester.

It's two hours every Tuesday and Thursday. Y'know, that building's way across campus. So I just eat something in my dorm before I leave, or skip dinner altogether.

I come here afterward, but lab lets out at seven-thirty and by then the cafeteria's already closed.

Male manager: Oh, I'm really sorry. Well, what about getting something to go and eating it in class?

男经理：哦，我真的很抱歉。那么，买点东西在课堂上吃呢？

Female student: I can't. Food isn't permitted anywhere near the laboratories. I wish you stayed open later.

女学生：不可以。在实验室附近任何地方都不允许吃东西。我希望你们晚一点关门。

Male manager: Have you complained formally? We've always had a suggestion box. And now, you can send us an e-mail.

男经理：你有正式提意见吗？我们一直都有建议箱。现在你可以给我们发电子邮件。

Female student: As a matter of fact, I did fill out a suggestion card. I asked for longer hours and for better food choices, too.

But that was like weeks agao. And nothing's changed from what I can see.

但好像是几个星期前的事了。到现在我也没看到任何改变。

Male manager: You know, I was just promoted to cafeteria manager, and one of the things I'm trying to do is pay more attention to students' concerns.

There have been a lot of complaints similar to yours over the years.

这些年来，还有很多和你的问题类似的投诉。

Female student: Yeah. A lot of my friends complain about the cafeteria, but we figure nothing will ever be done.

Male manager: Well, some things can change. For instance, you mentioned you'd like better food choices.

男经理：嗯，有些事情还是可以改变的。例如，你提到想要有更好的食物选择。

Is there anything in particular you'd like added to our menu?

Female student: Hmm, I guess it'd be nice to get hot cereal in the morning,

and maybe a wider choice of soups and salads at lunch and dinner. And, there should definitely be enough food to feed everyone whenever the cafeteria's open.

也许午餐和晚餐可以有更多样的汤和色拉。并且，只要是餐厅开门营业的时候，就应该要有足够的食物，让每个人都有饭吃。

Male manager: Hmmm. All good suggestions. Say, were you aware that the university has recently formed a food advisory committee?

男经理：嗯，都是好建议。你知道学校最近成立了一个食品咨询委员会吗？

It includes myself, a nutritionist, the school chef, a food-science professor, and the person who oversees the cafeteria budget.

委员会成员包括我本人，一名营养学家，学校主厨，一位食品科学教授和一个负责食堂预算的人。

Female student: Do you want me to talk to the committee?

女学生：你想让我和委员会谈谈吗？

Male manager: I was thinking you might like to serve on the committee. If you're interested, I'll recommend you as the student representative.

男经理：我在想你是否愿意服务于委员会。如果你有兴趣，我可以推荐你做学生代表。

Female student: Oh, I'm not so sure if I have enough spare time to get that involved.

女学生：哦，我不太确定我是否有足够的空余时间。

Male manager: OK, then, why don't I let you know when and where our next meeting is, and we'll put you on the agenda?
