I'd like to talk about the Guangzhou Opera House that I visited during a family trip to Guangzhou last summer. It's located in the Pearl River New Town area, right along the riverfront.
The building looks absolutely stunning - it has this very modern, flowing design that looks almost like two smooth stones sitting by the water. The exterior is covered in granite and glass, and the shape is really unique with these curved, organic lines. At night, it's beautifully lit up and reflects in the Pearl River, which makes it even more impressive.
I learned that it was designed by a famous British-Iraqi architect named Zaha Hadid, and it opened in 2010. It's actually one of the largest theaters in southern China and hosts opera, concerts, and other performances. The interior is just as striking as the outside, with this flowing design continuing throughout the building.
What I found most interesting was how the building seems to change depending on where you look at it from and what time of day it is. From one angle, it looks like a spaceship, and from another, it resembles flowing water or wind. The way it integrates with the surrounding landscape is really clever too - it doesn't feel like it was just dropped there, but like it grew out of the riverbank naturally.
It made me appreciate how modern architecture can be both functional and artistic. The building itself is almost like a piece of sculpture.

I think it makes sense for most places to charge something, even if it's just a small fee. Maintaining parks and tourist sites costs money - someone has to pay for cleaning, security, and upkeep. But some places go overboard with pricing and it becomes ridiculous. I went to this waterfall last year and they charged 50 yuan just to walk on a path! Maybe basic natural areas like beaches or hiking trails should be free, but places with facilities like museums or theme parks need to charge. The key is keeping fees reasonable so families can still afford to visit without breaking the bank.

Not always! Sometimes the best experiences happen when you just wander around local neighborhoods, try street food, or chat with locals in a coffee shop. Famous scenic spots are often crowded and touristy - you spend more time taking selfies than actually enjoying the place. My best travel memories are usually random discoveries, like finding a tiny local restaurant or stumbling upon a street performance. That said, some iconic places are definitely worth seeing at least once. I guess it depends on what kind of traveler you are - some people love checking off must-see lists, others prefer authentic local experiences.


Job opportunities are huge - there's just way more variety in career options and higher salaries usually. The convenience is amazing too - everything's within reach, public transport, restaurants open late, delivery services for everything. Plus, big cities are exciting - there's always something happening, concerts, festivals, new restaurants to try. For young people especially, the social scene is much better than small towns. And if you have specific interests like art or music, you'll find communities of like-minded people. Though honestly, the cost of living can be brutal and the pace is exhausting sometimes.

I don't think it's necessary, but you might regret missing really famous ones. Like, if you go to Paris and don't see the Eiffel Tower, people will think you're crazy! Some landmarks are genuinely impressive and worth the hype. But others are just overcrowded tourist traps where you can barely see anything. I'd say pick one or two major landmarks and then spend the rest of your time exploring less obvious places. Sometimes the journey to a landmark is more interesting than the landmark itself. It really depends on how long you're staying and what you're interested in.

I think it varies a lot by age and lifestyle. Young professionals often prefer tall buildings because they're usually in city centers, close to work and nightlife. Plus, apartments in high-rises often have modern amenities like gyms and security. But families with kids tend to prefer bungalows - having your own yard, more space, no noisy neighbors above you. Older people definitely seem to prefer single-story living because stairs become difficult. Cost is a big factor too - in expensive cities, you might not have a choice. Though personally, I love the views from tall buildings, but I miss having a garden when I lived in an apartment.
