I'd like to share about a power outage that happened last summer during a particularly hot evening. I was at home with my family, and we were all using air conditioning when suddenly everything went dark around 8 PM.
The blackout lasted for about four hours, which felt like an eternity in that sweltering heat. At first, we just sat there waiting, thinking it would come back quickly, but after an hour we realized we needed to do something.
We ended up having quite an adventure actually. My mom found some candles, and we moved to the balcony where it was slightly cooler. We played card games by candlelight, something we hadn't done in years. My dad told us stories about his childhood when power outages were more common. We also opened all the windows and used battery-powered fans. Later, we even went downstairs to chat with neighbors who were also sitting outside trying to cool off.
Initially, I felt frustrated and annoyed, especially because I couldn't use my phone once the battery died and I was worried about missing important messages. But as the evening progressed, I actually started enjoying it. There was something peaceful about being disconnected from technology and just talking face-to-face with family. It reminded me how much we rely on electricity for everything, and honestly, it was refreshing to have that forced break from screens and social media.

It really depends on what you need them for. Electric bikes are fantastic if you're commuting to work and don't want to arrive all sweaty, or if you live in a hilly area. My dad got one last year and now he cycles everywhere instead of driving. But honestly, regular bikes are great for exercise and they're way cheaper - no charging, no maintenance of the motor. Plus, if your electric bike breaks down, you're basically stuck, but a normal bike is pretty reliable.

I don't think they'll completely replace regular bikes, but they're definitely becoming more popular. In my city, I see tons of delivery guys using electric bikes because they can cover more distance without getting exhausted. But for kids learning to ride or people who cycle for fitness, traditional bikes will probably stick around. Also, electric bikes are still pretty expensive, so not everyone can afford to switch over.

Electric cars are obviously better for the environment, and the running costs are much lower - no more expensive gas station visits! But honestly, I'm still worried about finding charging stations on long trips, and what happens if the battery dies in the middle of nowhere? Petrol cars are more convenient right now because gas stations are everywhere. Though I have to admit, my friend's Tesla is incredibly quiet and smooth to drive.

They basically followed the sun's schedule - went to bed when it got dark and woke up at sunrise. People used candles, oil lamps, and fireplaces for light and heat. Everything took way longer to do, like washing clothes by hand or cooking over wood fires. Communities were probably closer because people gathered around fires to socialize in the evenings. Honestly, it sounds romantic in theory, but I can't imagine living without my phone charger or air conditioning in summer!
