The biggest difference is definitely convenience and size. In the past, technology was usually bulky and single-purpose. Like, you had a camera for photos, a Walkman for music, and a TV for shows. But today, everything is integrated into one tiny smartphone. Also, connectivity is a huge change. In the past, we were mostly offline, but now with 5G everywhere in China, we are connected 24/7.


Well, apart from smartphones, which are a no-brainer, I see two things everywhere.  First is noise-canceling earbuds. On the subway or in dorms, almost every young person is wearing them to create their own quiet space. Second is tablets, like iPads. Students use them heavily for taking digital notes in class or drawing cartoons. It's much more eco-friendly than using paper.

Online communication, like using WeChat, is incredibly efficient. You can reply whenever you want, which saves time. However, it lacks nuance. You can't see the other person's facial expressions or body language, so it's easy to misunderstand the tone. Face-to-face is much 'warmer.' It builds trust. That's why for important things, like a breakup or a business deal, people still prefer to meet in person.
