And how you felt about it
示例回答
A crowded place I went to that I didn’t actually like, was Beijing West Railway Station. It was an awful experience. It was a weekend, I think it was a holiday weekend too, and it was the most crowded place I’ve ever been in my life. There were so many people there it was almost impossible to even move. I felt a sense of panic because I thought that I might miss my train because the queues were so long – and you have to queue up to get into the station then you have to go through security, then you have to find your platform, and everywhere, from outside the entrance to right up to the platform, there are so many people. On this occasion I went there because I was going to visit an uncle of mine in another city, down south. He had just bought a new house and he was inviting various family members there to celebrate – it also coincided with the national holiday – which was the main reason the station was so crowded – everyone in Beijing seemed to be travelling home to see relatives for the holiday. Anyway, so I didn’t feel good about this, and I am quite sensitive to crowds and crowded noisy places. But when I was on the train it was fine, and actually on the way back the crowds there were much less. You have to be quite patient in China if you want to travel anywhere during the national holidays you see.
Part 3
1 Which cities are crowded in your country?
示例回答
In China, Beijing and Shanghai are the most crowded cities. Beijing, as the capital, is packed with government offices, universities, and major companies, attracting millions of people for work and study. Its population of over 21 million and it makes daily life quite hectic, especially during rush hours on the subway or ring roads. Shanghai is China's financial center. Its busy streets, packed restaurants, and crowded shopping areas like Nanjing Road show how densely populated it is. Both cities face challenges like traffic jams and high housing costs due to their large populations.
2 Will there be more or less green space in cities in the future?
示例回答
I believe there will likely be more green space in cities in the future. Many urban planners now recognize the importance of green areas for people's well-being and the environment. Cities are creating more parks, rooftop gardens, and green corridors. For example, Singapore has its "City in a Garden" vision, adding green spaces to buildings and streets. Also, as people become more aware of climate change, there's growing pressure on city governments to increase urban greenery.
However, this will require careful planning and balancing with the need for housing and infrastructure in growing cities.
3 Will people use bikes more or less in cities in the future?
示例回答
I believe people will use bikes more in cities in the future. There are three main reasons for this. First, many cities are building more bike lanes, which makes cycling safer and more convenient. For example, in my city, they've added new bike paths along many main roads. Second, people are becoming more concerned about the environment, and biking is a clean way to travel that doesn't produce pollution. Third, as cities get more crowded, bikes can be faster than cars for short trips. You can easily weave through traffic jams on a bike. These factors are already encouraging more people to cycle, and I think this trend will continue in the future.
4 Why do people go to crowded places?
示例回答
People go to crowded places for three main reasons. First, these places are often popular attractions that offer unique experiences. For example, famous tourist spots or big events like music festivals attract many people because everyone wants to see or be part of something special. Second, crowded places usually have a lively atmosphere. Many people enjoy the energy and excitement of a busy market or a packed concert venue. It can be fun to be surrounded by others who are also having a good time. Third, crowded places are often good for socializing. Busy bars, clubs, or even shopping malls give people chances to meet new friends or potential partners. Being in a crowd can make it easier to strike up conversations with strangers.
5 Do you think there are some people who enjoy crowded places?
示例回答
Yes, I think some people really like crowded places. First, there are outgoing people who love being around others. They feel happy and excited in busy places like markets or festivals. Second, some folks enjoy the energy of crowds. For example, at a concert or sports game, the crowd's excitement can make the event more fun. Third, there are people who see crowds as a chance to meet new friends. They might go to busy bars or clubs hoping to talk to interesting people.
These types of people don't mind the noise or lack of space because they focus on the good parts of being in a crowd, like the fun atmosphere and chance to socialize.
6 Do you think it is a good trend to have more big cities?
示例回答
I think having more big cities has both good and bad points. On the positive side, big cities offer more job opportunities and better services like hospitals and schools. This can improve people's lives in many ways. However, big cities also face problems like crowding, pollution, and high living costs. These issues can make life stressful for residents. So, while big cities have advantages, I believe it's important to develop smaller cities too. This could help create a better balance and give people more choices about where to live and work.
