There are those who opine that individuals can never achieve success without a tertiary qualification, while others disagree, insisting that this is not applicable anymore in modern society. This essay will initially analyse the two ideas, before a presentation of my perspective, which is that attending university is not the most effective approach that can assist people to live a successful life and there are alternatives playing an important role.

It is justified for some to favour the larger contribution higher education makes to a person's success in life. The primary reason is that a university degree is the prerequisite for good employment and promotion. Nowadays, companies, be they well-known ones or start-ups, are inclined to recruit highly educated employees as they have acquired advanced knowledge and unique skill sets in their specialised fields and are considered to have the ability to add value to a corporation. If they stand out among their colleagues, they are very likely to be promoted even to management positions and well remunerated.

However, it is also true that receiving a university education is dispensable regarding helping people succeed. This is mainly because other ways are now available. The government is supporting the growth of new companies financially and thus individuals without a degree can become entrepreneurs and make money through running their own business. Creating vlogs is another option, and it is frequently noticed that many vloggers have earned fame and fortune. Also, many blue-collar workers such as plumbers in Australia can live a more affluent life than employees in the office, despite not being educated in university.

In conclusion, I believe that both sides of the argument are reasonable. On balance, my firm opinion is that going to university is no longer the best method that people can rely on to become successful in life; after all, they can achieve this goal via many other different ways.
