This percentage had doubled by 1992 and, despite dramatic fluctuations over the subsequent decade, levelled off at around 40% after 2000.

The data recorded for the remaining three audience groups were not as substantial. Only 15% of children and 10% of young adults (25-35 years old) were admitted to the cinema early on, although both figures eventually grew to around 30%. Even less enthusiasm was shown by people beyond the age of 35 because their participation rate was as low as 0% in 1984 and remained below 10% until 1995. Not withstanding a substantial increase in the following few years, this age group still ranked last (22%) in 2003.
