Test 1-Section 1SECTION 1
[02:33.68OFFICER: Good morning.
[02:34.81What can I do for you?
[02:36.18LOUISE: I want to report a theft.
[02:38.11I had some things stolen out of my bag yesterday.
[02:41.47OFFICER: I'm sorry to hear that.
[02:43.58Right, so I'll need to take a few details.
[02:47.23Can I start with your name?
[02:48.61LOUISE: Louise Taylor.
[02:50.19OFFICER: OK, thank you.
[02:52.00And are you resident in the UK?
[02:53.88LOUISE: No, I'm actually Canadian, though my mother was British.
[02:57.96OFFICER: And your date of birth?
[03:00.28LOUISE: December 14th, 1977.
[03:03.34OFFICER: So you're just visiting this country?
[03:05.89LOUISE: That's right.
[03:07.03I come over most summers on business.
[03:09.04I'm an interior designer and I come over to buy old furniture, antiques you know.
[03:15.56There are some really lovely things around here, but you need to get out to the small towns.
[03:21.05I've had a really good trip this year, until this happened.
[03:24.62OFFICER: OK.
[03:25.82So you've been here quite a while?
[03:27.74LOUISE: Yes, I’m here for two months.
[03:30.49I go back next week.
[03:32.40OFFICER: So may I ask where you're staying now?
[03:35.04LOUISE: Well at present I've got a place at Park Apartments, that's on King Street.
[03:41.11I was staying at the Riverside Apartments on the same street, but the apartment there was only available for six weeks so I had to find another one.
[03:50.59OFFICER: OK.
[03:51.72And the apartment number?
[03:53.16LOUISE: 15.
[03:54.22OFFICER: Right.
[04:47.38OFFICER: Now, I need to take some details of the theft.
[04:51.19So you said you had some things stolen out of your bag?
[04:55.03LOUISE: That's right.
[04:56.22OFFICER: And were you actually carrying the bag when the theft took place?
[05:00.46LOUISE: Yes.
[05:01.49I really can't understand it.
[05:03.70I had my backpack on.
[05:05.85And I went into a supermarket to buy a few things and when I opened it up my wallet wasn't there.
[05:13.04OFFICER: And what did your wallet have in it?
[05:15.73LOUISE: Well, fortunately I don't keep my credit cards in that wallet - I keep them with my passport in an inside compartment in my backpack.
[05:25.02But there was quite a bit of cash there ... about £250 sterling, I should think.
[05:32.48I withdrew £300 from my account yesterday, but I did a bit of shopping, so I must have already spent about £50 of that.
[05:42.37OFFICER: OK.
[05:43.52LOUISE: At first I thought, oh I must have left the wallet back in the apartment, but then I realised my phone had gone as well.
[05:51.90It was only a week old, and that's when I realised I'd been robbed.
[05:57.27Anyway at least they didn't take the keys to my rental car.
[06:00.83OFFICER: Yes.
[06:01.98So you say the theft occurred yesterday?
[06:05.06LOUISE: Yes.
[06:06.12OFFICER: So that was September the tenth.
[06:08.94And do you have any idea at all of where or when the things might possibly have been stolen?
[06:16.38LOUISE: Well at first I couldn't believe it because the bag had been on my back ever since I left the apartment after lunch.
[06:24.15It's just a small backpack, but I generally use it when I'm travelling because it seems safer than a handbag.
[06:31.88Anyway, I met up with a friend, and we spent a couple of hours in the museum.
[06:38.44But I do remember that as we were leaving there, at about 4 o'clock, a group of young boys ran up to us, and they were really crowding round us, and they were asking us what time it was, then all of a sudden they ran off.
[06:55.40OFFICER: Can you remember anything about them?
[06:58.30LOUISE: The one who did most of the talking was wearing a T-shirt with a picture of something ... let's see ... a tiger.
[07:08.79OFFICER: Right.
[07:09.78Any idea of how old he might have been?
[07:12.53LOUISE: Around twelve years old?
[07:15.40OFFICER: And can you remember anything else about his appearance?
[07:19.48LOUISE: Not much, he was quite thin ...
[07:22.96OFFICER: Colour of hair?
[07:24.28LOUISE: I do remember that - he was blond.
[07:27.45All the others were dark-haired.
[07:30.04OFFICER: And any details of the others?
[07:32.78LOUISE: Not really.
[07:34.38They came and went so quickly.
[07:36.80OFFICER: Right.
[07:38.07So what I'm going to do now is give you a crime reference number so you can contact your insurance company.
[07:45.76So this is ten digits: 87954 82361.
[07:54.68LOUISE: Thank you.
[07:56.04So should I ...
