课文中有这样一句话：“Silk from China found its way over land along the Silk Road to India, the Middle East and Rome...”，句中 “find its way ” 表示 “to reach someplace by discovering the right way to get there”。这里运用了拟人手法。把silk比拟做有思想的人，主动地寻找自己的路线，显得生动有活力。全句可译为: “中国的丝绸沿着丝绸之路到达印度﹑中东和罗马……”。英语中有许多含有way的短语，生动形象，意味深长，具有汉语达不到的效果，值得品味：
