World Car Free Day takes place on 22 September
每年的9月22日是世界无车日。
Families across Enfield are being asked to leave their cars at home and find alternative ways of getting into school in celebration of World Car Free Day.
在世界无车日当天，恩菲尔德的各家各户要把自己的汽车留在家中，通过其他的方式去上班或者上学。
World Car Free Day also coincides with Transport for London’s accreditation scheme for schools and nurseries which is celebrating its tenth year by running a London-wide car free day.
为与世界无车日相呼应，关于学校和幼儿园的伦敦认证运输计划也计划在无车日当天倡导全伦敦无车，同时也作为改计划实施十周年的庆祝活动。
There are more than 100 schools across London signed up to take part in the Car Free Day, also on 22 September.
目前伦敦有100多所学校报名参加了9月22日的世界无车日活动。
Enfield Council’s Cabinet Member for Environment, Cllr Daniel Anderson, said: “I would encourage schools across Enfield to be part of this global movement to encourage safe and active travel.
恩菲尔德委员会的内阁成员，Cllr Daniel Anderson说:“我个人鼓励恩菲尔德的学校积极参加这项全球活动，鼓励大众进行安全和积极的旅行。”
“We want to promote active, sustainable and independent travel for all – from school children, to their parents and guardians, to the staff in schools. As well as reducing the use of cars across Enfield, we want to improve the air quality across the Borough while encouraging increased awareness and improving road safety.
“我们的目的在于促进大众进行积极、可持续发展和独立性的旅行—无论是学生还是父母以及他们的监护人员，甚至是学校的工作人员。除了减少恩菲尔德内部城市的汽车使用，我们还希望改善整个市区的空气质量，同时提高环保和道路安全意识。”
“What a fantasist sight it would be if on the 22 September we were to see all our school children walking, cycling, scooting or taking public transport to school.”

Motor vehicles are the single biggest source of atmospheric pollution, contributing an estimated 14% of the world’s carbon dioxide emissions from fossil fuel burning. By leaving the car at home, participants could make a huge difference to Enfield’s air quality, which would help towards the Council’s vision to develop strong communities with safer, cleaner and more attractive neighbourhoods.
机动车是大气污染的最大来源，占全球化石燃料燃烧排放量的14%。通过把汽车留在家里，参与者可以对恩菲尔德的空气质量起到巨大的改善作用，这将有助于促进委员会愿景的实现，去发展更安全、更清洁、更有吸引力的社区。
