SEOUL (BLOOMBERG) - South Korean President Park Geun Hye signalled she would be willing to step down in April as opposition lawmakers said they might have enough votes to impeach her this week over an influence-peddling scandal.
彭博社首尔电 韩国总统朴槿惠暗示，她愿意于明年四月份下台，而反对派议员表示，他们有足够的选票于本周就对朴槿惠以权谋私丑闻进行弹劾。
Park would accept the ruling Saenuri Party’s proposal that she step down at the end of April, her senior political adviser, Hur Won Je, said on Monday (Dec 5) at a parliamentary hearing.
朴槿惠的高级政治顾问Hur Won Je在12月5日星期一的一次国会庭审上表示，朴槿惠愿意接受执政党新国家党的提议，她将于明年4月末下台。
Her resignation would pave the way for a presidential election in 60 days.
朴槿惠的辞职将为未来60天的总统大选铺路。
If parliament votes to impeach her, Park would be suspended from power unless the move is rejected by the constitutional court.
如果议会投票对她进行弹劾，那么朴槿惠就会被移除权利，除非弹劾决议被宪法法院否决。
"If Park is suspended, her hands would be tied and she wouldn’t be able to make a move when she wants to when the situation improves for her," said Nam Chang Hee, a political science professor at South Korea’s Inha University.

"Resigning in April would buy her nearly five months of time to exercise influence."

A resignation offer may be too late to halt the momentum for her impeachment. A faction of her party agreed on Sunday to support an impeachment motion set for vote on Friday regardless of whether she resigns in April or not, Chang Je Won, a Saenuri Party lawmaker, said on Facebook.
对于朴槿惠来说，如果想要转变被弹劾的命运，现在才同意下台可能为时晚矣。新国家党议员Chang Je Won在脸书上表示，在本周日，新国家党的一个派别已经达成一致，无论朴槿惠是否在明年4月份辞职，他们都将在周五的弹劾投票中投下支持票。
The 29 lawmakers made their decision after witnessing Saturday’s protest against Park, the biggest yet.

"Joining the impeachment vote is the only way to humbly accept the wishes of the people and put the government affairs back on track," Chang said.
