Beijing, June 29 (IANS) A healthy baby girl was born in China from an embryo frozen 18 years ago, medical officials said on Wednesday.
北京6月29日电(印度亚洲通讯社)星期三，医疗人员表示，中国一枚冷冻了18年的胚胎被“唤醒”，是一个健康的女婴。
A 45-year-old woman gave birth to a girl, weighing 3,300 gm, in Jiangsu province on Monday. The embryo was implanted into her womb in November 2015, Xinhua news agency reported on Wednesday.
星期一，江苏省的一位45岁的女士诞下了这名女婴，婴儿重3300克。这枚胚胎于2015年11月植入她的子宫。据新华社星期三报道。
She suffered from blocked fallopian tubes and tried to conceive through In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) in 1998.
因输卵管堵塞，该女士于1998年进行试管婴儿治疗希望能怀孕。
After three failed implantations, one with a fresh embryo and two with frozen, she decided to wait and try again.
在一次新鲜胚胎移植与两次冷冻胚胎移植失败后，她决定等等再说。
At the beginning of 2015, she went back to the hospital hoping to have another try. Doctors found that she suffered from hydrosalpinx and a thin endometrium. After a surgery, she had the embryo implanted.
2015年初，她来到这家医院希望再试一次。医生检查发现她存在输卵管积水和子宫内膜薄的问题。手术治疗后，胚胎顺利移植。
Frozen embryos are stored in liquid nitrogen at minus 196 degrees Celsius. According to the Shanghai health department, the storage life for frozen embryos should be kept within five years.
冷冻胚胎被存在低至零下196度的液态氮中。据这家上海医疗中心介绍，冻存胚胎临床使用时间一般控制在5年之内。
"In reality, we will continue storing embryos as long as the patients ask us to do," said a medical official.
