The Ministry of Commerce has imposed a new tax system on overseas online shopping. Starting on April 8, overseas retail goods bought online will no longer be treated as personal shipments, which enjoy tax rates lower than that of other imported goods. Instead, those overseas purchases will be charged the same as any other imported goods. This move is intended to put foreign and domestic products on an equal footing, reported China Daily.
商务部日前出台了一项针对海淘的新税制。自4月8日起，网上购买海外零售商品将不再被认定为个人商品配送，因为这种方式配送的商品比其他进口商品的税率要低很多。取而代之的是，这些海淘商品将与其他进口商品一样按相同税率纳税。据《中国日报》报道，这一举措旨在使海外商品与国产商品公平竞争。

The Ministry of Public Security on April 10 issued a class-A arrest warrant for 10 fugitives who allegedly committed huge telecom and Internet fraud. The ministry also appealed for information on their whereabouts. A day later, one of the 10 suspects surrendered to the police. Tan Dunhui, 39, is accused of tricking a corporate accountant into transferring 5 million yuan to him in 2013.

A Brazilian congressional commission voted 38-27 to recommend the impeachment of Dilma Rousseff, Brazil’s sitting president, Reuters reported on April 12. The measure is expected to go before the full Chamber of Deputies for a critical vote this Sunday. If two-thirds of the chamber vote is in favor of it, the Senate would have the final say in the presidential impeachment process. Rousseff is currently facing charges that she broke budget laws to support her re-election in 2014.

A fake university established as part of a sting operation to expose student visa scams has netted 21 American suspects, China Daily reported on April 6. According to the report, the suspects fraudulently enrolled their foreign clients in the fake school, to maintain their student visa status. Defendants are facing charges including conspiracy to commit visa fraud and conspiracy to harbor aliens for profit.
《中国日报》4月6日报道，美国警方实行钓鱼执法，派卧底探员办了一个假大学，抓捕了21名涉嫌进行学生签证诈骗的犯罪嫌疑人。报道称，嫌疑人为了保留学生签证的资格，假装将外国学生录取到这所学校中。被告人将面临共谋实施签证欺诈和共谋庇护外国人获利两项罪名指控。
