例1：
The theoretical separation of living, working,traffic and recreation [which for many yearshas been used in town-and-country planning],has in my opinion resulted in disproportionate attention for forms ofrecreation far from home, [whereas there wasrelatively little attention for improvement of recreative possibilities in thedirect neighborhood of the home
这是一个主从复合句。
原句中的各个子句，子句类型以及连接词如下：
1.主句：The theoretical separation of… hasresulted in disproportionate attention.
【译文】……分离的理论导致不适当的关注。
2.分句一：The theoretical separation of living,working, traffic and recreation for many years has been used intown-and-country planning.
类型：定语从句;连接词：which(其中which指的就是The theoretical separation ofliving, working, traffic and recreation)
【译文】多年来，生活、工作、交通、娱乐分离的理论，一直被用于城市乡镇规划中。
分句二：Whereasthere was relatively little attention for improvement of recreativepossibilities in the direct neighborhood of the home.
