1. 当含有否定意义的副词(如never，seldom，rarely，little，hardly，scarcely，nowhere)或介词短语(如by no means，on no condition)等位于句首时，则其后紧跟的句子需部分倒装。
1) Never has he felt so happy.
他从来没有这么高兴过。
2) Seldom did this woman go to a strange place.
这个女人很少去一个陌生的地方。
3) Little did I?expect to see him here.
我没想到会在这里见到他。
4) By no means can he finish?this work in such a short time.
他绝不可能在这么短的时间内完成这项工作。
5) On no condition should a child lie to his or her parents.
孩子在任何情况下都不应该对父母撒谎。
2. 当“only +状语”位于句首时，则其后紧跟的句子需部分倒装。
1) Only in this way can we finish our work on time.
只有这样我们才能按时完成工作。
2) Only then did she realize that Tom is her real friend.
直到那时她才意识到汤姆是她真正的朋友。
3) Only by working hard can we become successful.
只有努力工作，我们才能成功。
3. no sooner…than…/scarcely…when…/hardly…when…句型的前部分需要部分倒装。
1) No sooner had she said it than she burst into tears.
她刚一说完，泪水便夺眶而出。
2) Scarcely had the game started when it began to rain.
比赛才开始就下起雨来了。
3) Hardly had he left the room when this guest?entered.
他刚离开房间，这位客人就进来了。
4. not until…位于句首时，后面的主句需部分倒装。
1) Not until they pointed out my fault to me did I realize it.
直到他们指出了我的错误，我才意识到。
2) Not until he went through real hardship did he realize the love we have for our families is important.
直到经历了真正的苦难后，他才意识到我们对家人的爱是重要的。
5. 当so/nor/neither开头的句子对前面提及的内容进行重复时，其后的句子需部分倒装。
1) He likes reading novels. So does his wife.
他喜欢阅读小说。他的妻子也一样。
2) I do not agree?with what you are saying.?Nor does Jack.
我不同意你说的话。杰克也一样。
3) Tom can not answer this question. Neither can I.
汤姆回答不了这个问题。我也不能。
6. 当“not only…but also”连接两个并列分句时，前一个分句需用部分倒装。
1) Not only do they rob you, but they also smash everything.
他们不仅抢劫了你，而且还打碎了一切。
2) Not only do women need to be diligent, but also men should be.
不仅女人要勤奋，男人也要勤奋。
7. 当if引导的虚拟条件从句中有had，were等词时，在省略if的情况下可通过将这些词移到主语前(即通过部分倒装)来形成条件句。
1) If he had not been hurt, his team would have won this game.
Had he not been hurt, his team would have won this game.
如果他没有受伤，他的队就会赢得这场比赛。
2)?If?he?were?to start this work today, he would finish it?by Friday.
Were he to start this work today, he would finish it?by Friday.
如果他今天开始这项工作，他将在星期五前完成它。
